The SHS Key Club finished up their annual poinsettia sale on Nov. 24 which benefits Children’s Hospital and other local missions. They broke last year’s record by selling over 100 more than last year.

The SHS Varsity Basketball team delivered canned food collected by the Beta Club to Pleasant Hill church on Nov. 21 for their food pantry.

Springville businesses are encouraging locals to keep the Community Food Pantry in front of The Springville Antique Mall full through the end of the year. Starting Monday through Nov. 30 when you donate 5 cans of food to the pantry stop in Antique Mall and register for a chance to win a $25 Gift Card for the Antique Mall. Just drop your food in the pantry and pop in to registered for a free gift card.

Mayor Dave Thomas of the City of Springville visited the Springville Civil Air Patrol CAP-126 cadets on November 18th for an informal ‘chat’ in an effort to open the flow of communication. Mayor Thomas talked about his love of flying with the cadets and about city internships that he would like to offer in the future. The CAP-126 presented the mayor with a Certificate of Appreciation. Mayor Thomas also helped to present the Squadron Certificate of Achievements to all the cadets that participated in the City of Springville/VFW Veteran’s Day celebration at the city park on November 11th.

The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce, Annual Christmas Parade is slated for Saturday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. with the theme of “Christmas through the Decades.” The Parade will start near City Hall on Walker Drive at Highway 11 and end at Springville Middle School.

Springville Community Meetings

The Springville Library now offers Small Group Preschool Storytime at the library on Tuesdays or Thursdays at noon. Attendance will be limited, so be sure to reserve your space now. Stories will be the same on both days. Children will receive bagged take-home crafts. Snacks will not be provided at this time. Masks are required for adults and children over six with social distancing. Call the annex at 205-467-7261 to register.

Springville Parks and Recreation

The Splash Pad at Big Springs Park is closed for the 2020 Season. The Splash Pad will re-open May 2021. Big Springs Park Pavilion rental information and Splash Pad information, please call 205-467-0265 or parks-rec@springvillealabama.org.

Springville Library

The Springville Public Library is extending library appointment hours to include afternoon and evening appointments Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hours will open our buildings for multiple patron appointments for patrons who wish to select materials and use library computers. Library programs that require building space will be held from 12:00-1:30, please check your calendar for availability during these hours. Springville Senior Center

The Springville Senior Center will be closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic until further notice.

Springville Preservation Society

The Springville Preservation Society is taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings.
