During the pandemic, senior living communities have had to find ways to keep residents occupied and safe. The Sassy Senior Art Club at The Village at Cook Springs has found a way to continues to make smiles and keep residents spirits up despite the pandemic.

The residents have been participating in a friendly art contest created by local artist Anita Bice. The contest began with only two contestants, Sara Smith and Jan Sherard. The contest is now in its ninth round and is fierce with more residents joining in.

Residents and staff look forward to seeing all the artwork and finding out who won each round. No ones name is on the artwork so the judges do not know whose work they are looking at. What began with 20-30 judges has now turned into over 60 judges voting on artwork via Instagram stories.

“This has been such a highlight in the residents’ week and we are so grateful to Anita Bice for spearheading this activity and sharing her time getting the pictures out for judging,” Debra McMahon, Guest Services Coordinator shared.
