Local mail carriers are used to delivering mail. This week, they will be delivering hope as well.
People around St. Clair County will be receiving either a bag or a card in their mail boxes this week urging them to donate non-perishable food items for a local food drive.
All food will be given to the Christian Love Pantry, which provides food for families in need throughout St. Clair County.
The National Association of Letter Carriers organizes the food drive each year. Cliff Burns, letter carrier in Pell City, helps to organize the event. He has contacted area post offices and grocery stores to enlist their help.
“We will have collection points at Food Outlet, Fresh Market, and Cropwell, Pell City, Wattsville, and Riverside Post Offices,” said Burns.
Food will be collected Monday through Saturday, May 11 and boxes will be picked up on Saturday to be delivered to the Christian Love Pantry in Pell City.
