Steele recognizes Teacher of the Month for April

Steele Mayor Roger Adams recognized 6th grade reading teacher Melanie Patterson as Steele Teacher of the Month for April. She was awarded $50 for use in her classroom.

Patterson has been in the teaching profession for 13 years. Away from school she enjoys reading and spending time on their farm. 

When her students were asked for comments, they said she was “good” and then upgraded to “outstanding”.  The students enjoy books and not doing everything on the computer.  Patterson and her students have decided the money will go towards buying books. 

“Having the correct book makes a big difference for the students,” she said.
