I have a Senior.

My caboose is graduating high school. I knew this time would come and I thought I would be prepared. I wasn’t. I got out graduation announcements so I could start addressing them.

I have been crying ever since.

It just hit me all of a sudden that in a few days he will begin his walk across the stage as my baby boy and end his walk as a young man. This momma’s heart just about can’t take it.

He is the baby. My last Mohican. My son.

All I can hope is that some how some way, I haven’t messed him up too badly. Someone told me once that as parents we don’t have to be perfect, just good enough. As long as none of the fish are floating upside down in the tank then that’s all that matters. So, there’s that.

Let’s get to the news.

The SCCHS Class of 2019 Commencement will be held Thursday May 17 at 7 p.m. at Church at Brookhills.  Senior awards will be held at 10:30 a.m. the day of graduation at the high school immediately after the Senior Walk Through.

Baccalaureate ceremonies will be held Monday, May 13 at 6 p.m.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10. Let’s show our teachers how much they mean to us!

The SCCHS Sound of the Saints Band is in desperate need of sponsors to help fund the trip to London for the New Year’s celebration. Donations are tax deductible and can either be mailed to:P.O. BOX 891, Odenville, AL 35120. Make checks payable to SCCHS Band.

Other opportunities to help are:

  • A GoFundMe page set up “Help send the Sound of the Saints to London”
  • A car wash that will be held at the old Odenville Utility Board building on May 11.
  • The Latitude 34 North Music Festival in Odenville on July 19-21.

Please help support these hardworking and deserving students!
