49 dogs adopted/rescued in animal cruelty case

When the Pell City Animal Control Center received an influx of dogs in late March from an animal cruelty case, the immediate goal of the staff was to ensure a positive outcome for each rescued animal.  As of April 18, each of the 49 Chihuahuas and dachshunds brought into the Center has been adopted, or accepted by a qualified animal rescue organization.

Due to the poor conditions of their previous home, many of the rescued dogs required substantial veterinary care and were accepted by rescue groups to continue their recovery process.  Through the efforts of the Center’s staff and veterinary partners, each of these dogs will go on to loving homes.

The initial social media post  on the Pell City Animal Control Center page drew more than 1.7 million views and over 5,000 comments bringing in donations from across the country and the world.  In total, more than 100 donors provided supplies and monetary donations to aid the dogs in their medical care, nutritional needs, and adoption or foster placement.

The Friends of the Pell City Animal Control (PCACC) would like to thank all of our rescue partners: Two by Two Animal Rescue, AL, Little Star Chihuahuas Rescue, AL, Middle Tennessee Treasures Rescue, TN, Crossing Paths Rescue, AL, Kristina’s Road to Rescue, Hickory Level Hound Rescue, GA, Sanctuary Animal Rescue, AL and Broken Halos Rescue, AL, as well as Tommy Spina with Croonin’ for Critters for his generous  $1,000 donation, and Dairy Queen of Pell City for sponsoring a free ice cream night for those who brought in pet food which was very successful.
