Suspect charged after stealing litter control truck

A Tuscaloosa man is arrested after allegedly stealing a litter control truck in Odenville.
The suspect, 30-year-old Michael Scott Lewis of Tuscaloosa, was arrested after a wreck involving a stolen litter control truck and charged with robbery first degree.

The St. Clair County Litter Control Unit was stopped at the Lil Mart Service Station at 9887 US Hwy 411 in Odenville.
According to reports, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, the litter control worker was approached in the parking lot by a white male suspect and asked for a ride. The litter control worker advised the suspect no.
Witnesses stated that the white male suspect then approached the four inmate trustees while armed with what appeared to be a knife and demanded they exit the litter control truck, which they did. The white male suspect then entered the vehicle and drove away.
A few minutes later the suspect was spotted by law enforcement and after a short chase wrecked at the intersection of Argo- Margaret Rd and Blackjack Rd.
The suspect was taken into custody and no injuries resulted from this incident.
“The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Argo, Odenville, Margaret, Springville, and ALEA for their assistance in locating and apprehending the suspect,” said St. Clair County Sheriff Billy Murray.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office has charged the suspect with Robbery first degree and has booked him into the St. Clair County Jail in Ashville. No bond has been set at this time.
