“SPRINGVILLE MOVIES IN THE PARK” on Friday, November 16 had a large turnout for the Movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. 

The Springville Public Library hosted Nancy Graves, 4-H Foundation Regional Extension Agent, for teaching this fantastic group of kids the science of coding.

The Springville Public Library hosts Preschool Storytime every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Springville Mayor, William “Butch” Isley and several city council members attended the St. Clair Commissioner’s Office for the Mayor’s breakfast on November 13. Guest speakers, newly elected lieutenant governor Will Ainsworth spoke on a positive outlook as to our schools and growth in St. Clair County. 

The SMS and SHS Tiger Girls Dance Teams offered a dance clinic on November 13 and 15 for future Tiger Girls.

The Springville High Cheerleaders competed at The North Super Regional event on Thursday, November 15 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham.

SHS students brought in 3500 canned goods for the annual Beta Club Canned Food Drive. This total breaks the record for the most brought in. That averages out to 5 cans per student. 

The Springville Middle School Spelling Bee will be held December 5 at the school. 

Springville Senior Center

  • The Springville Senior Center has ceramics  classes on Mondays and Friday from 12-2 p.m..
  • The Springville Senior Center has quilting classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.

Springville Library

  • Nov. 27, Kids and Kin – Speech and Language, Tuesday 10 a.m.
  • Nov. 27, Wild Reader Book Club, Tuesday 10 a.m.
  • Nov. 29, LEGO Club , Thursday 4:30 p.m.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000. 

Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info

The Church at Bradford Road is offering a Divorce Support Group for Children every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contact 205-467-7376.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
