A Veterans Day service was held at Robert L. Howard State Veteran’s Home on Nov. 11 in Pell City. This is the second year the ceremony has been held at the Veteran’s Home in conjunction with the City of Pell City and the St. Clair County Commission.
The St. Clair County Commission presented a Resolution to the Home declaring this week as “Veterans Appreciation Week.”
Residents of the Robert L. Howard State Veteran’s Home in Pell City, guests, members of St. Clair County Commission and the City of Pell City listened to presentations by Mayor Bill Pruitt and Pell City Police Chief Paul Irwin, Jr. who is a Marine Veteran.
“These are my heroes in this room,” Irwin said. “They don’t all wear a uniform or a sports jersey. They are dressed like civilians yet they are willing to sacrifice everything for our freedom.”
