Vote

Last night viewers tuned in as the election results rolled in from record-breaking votes across the state of Alabama.

Governor Kay Ivey is now the historic first Republican elected female Governor for the state. Coming out to “This One’s For The Girls,” she delivered a speech full of vigor and gratitude.

In other offices, Will Ainsworth took the office of Lieutenant Governor, beating out Democratic candidate Will Boyd by a large 63 percent.

Attorney General Republican Incumbent Steve Marshal won over Democrat Joseph Siegelman and Secretary of State John Merrill defeated Heather Milam.

GOP candidate Tom Parker has been announced as the victor of Alabama’s next Chief Justice over Robert Vance.

For the U.S Representatives, it was a night for the Incumbents with all retaining their seats. Mike Rogers, Martha Roby, Mo Brooks, Bradley Byrne, Gary Palmer and Mo Brooks all had reasons for celebrations last night as they pulled ahead in their respective positions.

The exception to this was Democratic candidate for Jefferson County, Terri Sewell, who easily secured a win with no opposition.

Amendments were the big story as Alabamians eagerly awaited two more controversial additions to the ballots yesterday and with large margins, the Ten Commandments will now be allowed in front of schools and government buildings with protection by the state. Another huge move for Alabama was the vote to recognize and protect the rights of the unborn children in respect to abortion within the State.

Social Media has been buzzing with mixed opinions on both, but from the counts, it seems as most Alabamians made their voices heard in their support of both.

We would love to hear any and all opinions about last night’s results and the Amendments brought for to the people to weigh in on.
