The Springville Civil Air Patrol, Al-126 hosted Codie Osborne on October 15 to talk about his time going through training for the USMC for a leadership class. The CAP also gave out certificates to the senior members for helping out with color guard academy and some certificates to the cadets who ranked up this month.

The Springville Public Library’s Homeschool event, “Exploring Clay” with Vickey Wheeler on October 17 had a large turnout for a pottery wheel demonstration and had the opportunity to all participate in creating something together.
Springville Elementary School celebrated “Special Olympics Day” with a celebrating walk to show support and encouragement for special needs students.

The Springville Chamber of Commerce will host a Veteran’s Dinner for all military veterans and their spouse living in the Springville area at the Choppin’ Block Restaurant located at 140 Purple Heart Boulevard at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 5. Springville High School is planning a fundraiser for alumni Nick Roberts to support him in his battle against cancer. The Alumni Games will be held at SHS on Sunday, November 11.

Springville Senior Center

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
