The Munford Lions defeated Moody with a 21-7 win Friday night. Moody falls to 1 – 5(1 – 3).  Moody faces rival Springville tonight.

Munford did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard.  The Lion drove 58 yards with 28 of those yards going in for the games first score.  The extra point was good and Munford led 7 – 0 with 7:46 left in the first quarter.

Munford’s next scoring opportunity came later in the quarter.  Starting with good field position at the Moody 43, the Lion completed a big 22 yard play putting the ball at the Blue Devils 21 yard line.  Tack on a couple of penalties against Moody defense, and the Lions all of a sudden where first and goal at the 4 yard line.  Munford scored from there, and with the extra point, the Lion led 14 – 0 after one quarter.

Moody got on the board to start the second quarter thanks to Aiden Calvert.  The Blue Devil defense forced the Lions to punt.  Pressure from Calvert caused the punter to fumble the ball and he was tackled by Aiden and the one yard line.  Moody had the ball first and goal, and Rashad Clark scored from there.  The extra point was good and Moody now trailed 14 – 7 with 10:03 left in the half.

The two defenses held serve the rest of the way, with Moody’s Joel McCormick picking up a sack and a fumble.  The Blue Devils had a couple of good drives, one of which led to an 18 yard field goal attempt that was no good.  The Lions led 14 – 7 at halftime.

The Lions put together a long 83 yard drive that ate up most of the third quarter.  Munford scored from 2 yards out.  Add on the extra point, and Munford was now ahead 21 – 7.

Calvert and Christian Archer made some big stops in the third and fourth quarters, Tyler Miller recovered a fumble, but Moody could not muster and point and fell to the Lions 21 – 7.

There are only 4 regular season games left for the Blue Devils.  Moody will travel the next two week, with rival Springville on the list tomorrow night.  Next week Moody travels to CenterPoint to take on the Eagles.  Moody will come home for the last two games facing Mortimer Jordan, and Talladega.  Kickoff for tomorrow nights rivalry game at Springville will be at 7PM.
