There is definitely no shortage of things to do in the Leeds/Moody area in the coming weeks.  There’s a great fall line-up of fun so plan to take advantage of lots of events and activities for the entire family.  I love helping to get the word out on what’s happening and hope that you keep up with my news article each week and share it digitally.  I really need your help to Like, Comment and Share my article each week on Facebook and other social media.  Each of these community organizers put a lot of time, effort and money into planning these events and it is important to all work together to get the word out.

Eden Westside Baptist Church River Campus in Leeds will host Ladies Night Out with a game night this Friday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m.  Bring your favorite snack and enjoy the fun with board games and more with some great ladies in the community.  For more information, please visit www. We’re very excited that the 27th Annual Whistle Stop Festival will be held in Leeds this year at The Outlet Shops of Grand River this Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Admission is free.  There will be plenty of activities for the entire family so don’t miss it!

Opening season begins this Saturday, Sept. 29 for Moody Miracle League.  Plan to come out and watch the games each Saturday.  Also, Buddies are needed so this is your opportunity to get in on the action and make a difference in the life of a person with a disability.  Buddies are 12 years old or older and assist the player according to his or her needs, protect the player at all times, allow the player as much freedom as possible to play and have fun.  Each game lasts about an hour.  The spring league is from March to June and the fall league is September through October.  For more information, please visit www. Don’t forget the Fourth Annual Celebrity Roast Fundraiser to benefit Shepherd Supply scheduled for 5: p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 30 at Moody Civic Center.  Plan to attend for a night of laughs with the roast of the New Sheriff in Town, Mr. Billy Murray.  This event will offer an unforgettable evening to support a great cause.  Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Dennis Russell, will be your guide and enjoy dinner, silent auction, Christmas Angel Tree and an update on Shepherd Supply Ministry.  Tickets are $50 per plate or sponsor a table of seven for $350 and are available online at www.shepherdsupplymission.com or call Dawn Ellard at 205-441-2340. 

Leeds City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 at Leeds Civic Center meeting room.

Moody Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 at White’s Chapel.

Moody Kiwanis Club is scheduled to meet at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Moody City Hall.

Join Leeds Police Department from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 for National Might Out at Leeds Memorial Park for a great night out with FREE food, face painting, balloon animals, inflatables, giveaways & more!  Meet your local law enforcement and firefighters with fun for the entire family!  For more information, please visit www.leedsalabama.gov.

Mills Pharmacy Leeds and the Aletheia House have partnered with the PACE Prevention Team to offer a Prescription Drug Take Back event to safely dispose of your unused or expired medications.  This is your opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinets.  Plan to stop by Mills Pharmacy in Leeds on Friday, Oct. 5 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for your drop off. 

The 26th Annual Lehigh Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Alabama Sheriff’s Boys Ranch of St. Clair County is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5 at Trussville Country Club.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. 4-Person Scramble with Shotgun starts at 9 a.m.  The day includes awards, door prizes, putting contest, gross and net prizes, food and cart.  You may register as a team or individual.  For more information, please contact James Etheridge at 205-702-7120 or Cindy Keith at 205-702-7114.

Moody Oktoberfest 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Moody City Park hosted by the Moody Area Chamber of Commerce.  This year’s festival should prove to be better than over.  Attractions include football games & the tailgate tent, arts & crafts, pony rides, bungee jumping, great food, live entertainment, face painting, mascot challenge, train and so much more!  For more information, please contact Andrea Machen at 205-640-6262. 

The 8th Annual Cruisin’ for a Miracle Car Show & Swap Meet hosted by C & C Motor Co. and Carpenetti’s Pizza to benefit the Moody Miracle League is scheduled for next weekend.  The Swap Meet will be Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8:00 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the car show will be Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Moody City Park in conjunction with Oktoberfest.  Admission is free and only $10 to register your car, truck, hot rod, ratrod, vintage tractor or motorcycle.  For more information, please contact Chris at 205-365-7412 or Christy at 205-283-0952.

Downtown Leeds is tailgating for homecoming this year!  Plan to spend the afternoon on the Parkway to tailgate and get in on the fun.  Food trucks will be available from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the parade begins around 1:30 p.m.  For more information, please contact Sandra McGuire at 205-699-5001. 

Moody Kiwanis Club will host its semi-annual pancake supper, Pancakes for a Purpose, at Carpenetti’s Pizzeria Restaurant in Moody on Monday, Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m.  Proceeds will fund college scholarships for area Key Club students, youth projects and Dolly Parton Imagination Library free book program for preschoolers.  Dine in with your family or carry out.  Tickets are $5 per plate and available from Kiwanis, Key Club, Builders Club and Aktion Club members as well as at the door.  Call 205-515-5544 for more information.
