State inmate fatally stabbed in Springville

The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Thursday at the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville.   

Rogarius Bray, 33, was fatally stabbed during an altercation with another inmate in a housing area at 10:27 p.m.  Bray was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. 

Prison officials have identified 42-year-old Brandy Harris as a suspect in the stabbing.  Harris will be charged with first-degree murder.  The circumstances leading to the altercation and fatal stabbing are unknown at this time.        

Bray was serving a life sentence for a 2003 first-degree robbery and murder conviction in Jefferson County.  Harris is serving a 50-year sentence for a 1997 murder conviction in Walker County.
