Early this morning the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a threat to Pell City High School, Ashville High School and both county courthouses.  

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the threat implied an explosive device would cause damage to these locations.  

The St. Clair County Courthouses in Ashville and Pell City have been evacuated. According to information from the Pell City School System, Pell City High School is on soft lockdown, meaning no one is outside at this time as law enforcement search the locations for possible threats.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Pell City Police, Ashville Police, Moody Police, and Riverside Police Departments are currently searching the locations utilizing K9 units to aid in the search.  

St. Clair County Schools Superintendent Jenny Seals posted that law enforcement have cleared Ashville Elementary, Ashville Middle Schools, and Ashville High School. Classes are resuming as normal. 

Pell City High School has also been cleared and all classes are resuming. According to the PCHS Facebook page they still have an extensive Law Enforcement presence on campus. 

Information from Assistant Sheriff Billy Murray states the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the threat at this time, but no additional information is available.
