According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), colon and melanoma cancer rank high in prevalence in St. Clair County, just under breast, ovarian, prostate and lung cancer. To raise awareness and educate the community about these types of cancer, the St. Clair County Extension Office will be hosting the 3rd annual cancer awareness luncheon with the goal of raising awareness of these two types of cancers that affect so many local citizens.

The Blue & Black Colon & Melanoma Cancer Awareness Luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 18 from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. at the Pell City Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA), which is adjacent to Pell City High School. They will be set-up in the gym. The luncheon is free and everyone is welcome but seating is limited. Since lunch will be provided, you must call the office at 205-338-9416 to reserve your seat.

The committee is looking for sponsors to help cover participant lunch costs, materials, and advertising associated with an event of this magnitude.

“With your help, the education received during this luncheon has the potential to save someone’s life,” said Lee Ann Clark, County Extension Coordinator.

They offer four levels of sponsorship. They ask for support in their effort as a sponsor.

1)     Premiere Sponsor ($250 or more) A recognized partner in all promotional media and on signage; Opportunity to speak during luncheon; Logo included with all event promotion; Link to company’s website in online advertising; Recognition during luncheon; and Booth (6-foot table) at event.
