St. Clair County Democrats seat new committee, elect Nieshia Brown as chair

Moody-based counselor Nieshia Brown has been elected as the new chair of the St. Clair County Executive Committee. She was elected Saturday, August 18, at the county party’s reorganizational meeting in Ashville. The new executive committee includes more than 30 St. Clair Democrats, representing all four county commission districts as required in party bylaws.

“We have an outstanding committee, and I can’t wait to dig in and start working to get Democrats elected not only this year, but in 2020 and beyond. We have a lot of work to do, and it’s time to look forward, not backward,” said Brown.

As chair, Brown will be responsible for certifying candidates and party election results, and for heading efforts to recruit and support candidates in the county. 

Other officers include: Tom Ingram- Vice Chairman, Barbara Khajavi- Secretary, Terri Wiggins- Treasurer, Richard Willert-Vice Chairman for Seniors, Katie Thornburg-Vice Chairman for Youth, and Derrick Mostella-Vice Chairman for Minority Affairs. 

The seating of the new committee was overseen by Alabama Democratic Party Chair Nancy Worley.
