On Sunday, Aug. 5, The Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA) was full of tail wags as it held its first annual Puppy Pageant. The event featured dogs of all breeds and sizes.
Like people pageants, it was broken up into portions and included a best tricks competition and a best costume competition on top of the general competition.
For the mutt strut general top dog portion of the competition, each dog was led on stage by their owner and walked in front of judges Lance Bell, Amy Smith and Nix Brown, to allow them to observe the dogs.
The winners were: Blair Goodgame’s dog, Turk, won overall top dog; Julie Funderburg’s dog, Bella, won best costume; and Lee Ann Brooks’ dog, Reeses, won best trick.
The event raised over $500 for the Pell City Animal Control Center, who was also present with adoptable dogs from the center.
