An ultrasound is usually the first introduction to a new family member and Deedra Haynes wants to make sure that it is a comfortable experience for mothers and family.

“The mom can feel the baby moving around,” Haynes said, “but this is the first time the whole family can be involved.”

Ultrasound Studio at Cogswell Station held a ribbon cutting with the Pell City Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, July 5. The ceremonial “birth” of the location also happened to be Deedra Haynes’ birthday. She was surrounded by family and friends to celebrate.

Haynes is a sonographer with 30 years of experience and currently works at the Gadsden Regional Medical Center. When her mother, Myra Barra, purchased the building at 2111 Cogswell Avenue, they decided to create a place where families could come to meet their new additions.

They offer 3-D and 4-D ultrasounds, photos, and stuffed animals with recordings of the baby’s heartbeat inside. The heartbeat can be detected at eight weeks and they offer gender scans and ultrasounds at 15 weeks.

They are open by appointment only by calling 205-405-1150.
