A local man stopped to buy fuel at The Store Shell gas station on Hwy 231 in Pell City at 8:45 p.m. on May 25 and has not been seen or heard from since.
Dennis O’Keith Armstrong, Jr., 27, of Pell City, was last seen wearing a green t-shirt and blue jeans. He is 6’2” with brown eyes and brown hair. His truck was found abandoned on Hwy 25 in Leeds May 26 and was impounded. The keys were still in the vehicle and it was out of gas.
According to Armstrong’s mother, Rita Armstrong, a missing person’s report was filed with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
“After three to four days I thought he’d call me,” Rita Armstrong said. “I’ve tried to get help. He (Dennis) has some mental issues. He’s manic, has schizophrenia and talks to himself a lot. We need help to find him.”
His family is asking for any information from the public. They are organizing a search party for Saturday, June 23 at 9 a.m. to search the woods on Hwy 25 in Leeds near Engineered Plastic Components at 8220 Dunnavant Rd. Volunteers can check in the day of the search. The Leeds Police Department will also be assisting.
“We don’t have any money to pay anyone. But would greatly appreciate all volunteer help we could get,” Haley Lee Armstrong, Dennis’ sister-in-law posted on Facebook. “And if anyone has any four wheelers would be great. Please come and help us search for my brother-in-law Dennis. Please let us know. Thank you all. And God Bless you all.”
If you have seen or have any information on the whereabouts of Dennis Armstrong, please contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department at 205-338-6840 or reach Rita Armstrong at 205-362-2328.
