Tastes & Tales of Pell City coming to CEPA June 16

It’s an ambitious goal – to bring some of Pell City’s best food and its most interesting stories under one roof for one exciting evening. But that’s just what a collaboration between the Center for Education and Performing Arts and the Pell City Library Guild aims to do.

The Pell City Library Guild and the Center for Education and Performing Arts are partnering for a one-night-only event this summer called Tastes & Tales of Pell City.

On Saturday, June 16 at 4 p.m., a lucky audience will spend the evening sampling foods from around town and at 6 p.m. will listen to stories from the people who call Pell City home told in a way they won’t hear anywhere else – and all proceeds will support the Pell City Library and CEPA.

Participating restaurants will be on-site from 4-6 p.m. passing our samples of their most popular dishes: Chicago Mike’s Hot Dogs, Pell City Coffee Company, B’s Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, French Market, Oishi, City Market Grill & Buffet, Polly Warren Catering, Publix, and Pell City Steakhouse.

A lineup of speakers includes people from across the city, who will be telling hilarious and moving stories about themselves. Those speakers include: Mary (Holladay) Peterson, Lance Bell, Mark Brown, Carrie Leland, Bill Hereford, LaCindra McGowan, Jacob Melvin (Birmingham Arc Stories participant), and Rev. Donald Gover.

The event will support the Library Guild’s efforts to improve technology in the Pell City Library and to bring new and exciting programs to the city’s children and adults. For CEPA, Tastes & Tales of Pell City will support the organization’s Spotlight program, a drama education collaborative that is opening doors to new experiences across St. Clair County.

The event will be held at CEPA on June 16 with food beginning at 4 p.m. and show at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for $20 by visiting pellcitycepa.com/tickets or call the box office at 205-338-1974.
