After accomplishing his goal to have a store, Emerson Jackson, an 8th grade student at Duran North Jr. High School in Pell City, with the help of his teacher, Mrs. Petersen, operated a store at school and sold snacks to other students.
He made a profit of $366.91. Because he loves animals he chose to donate his hard-earned money to ASPCI, an animal rescue organization.
ASPCI is dedicated to preventing animals from being exposed to high-stress shelter environments. They utilize foster families to care for the animals until they are available for adoption. ASPCI pays for all needed medical treatments and vaccines to ensure the animals are healthy. They work with shelters throughout the area to save animals lives.
Through partnerships with other rescue organizations, once healthy, the animals are presented for adoption. Additionally, ASPCI manages a low-cost Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), maintains a Pet Cemetery and supports Animal Transport Groups.
Emerson loves animals and hopes the donation will help the animals in ASPCI’s care to have a better life.
