Hello everyone. Hope you are planning a safe and fun Memorial Day. While Victory Christian School was out for summer last week (May 18th), today is the day for Pell City and St. Clair County Schools to be dismissed for the summer. I know all of the kids are happy.
Thought for today: “If you wanna see the true character of person watch the way they treat someone who can’t do anything for them.” Kanye West
In last week’s column, I talked about the PCHS Class of 1950 Reunion, but I left out a special person who attended. This was Elizabeth Jo Harvey who was born in and grew up in the Pell City area. She met her husband, Alan Stelzenmullen, while in college. They have four children and live in Durham, NC. This was the first time in many years that she could attend the reunion, so everyone was especially glad to see her. She visited a daughter in Atlanta and then drove over to the reunion. While in town, she visited her brother, Tom Harvey, who now resides in town.
Also, last week I wrote about the 6th Grade Lincoln Generals Travel Basketball Team who won the Adidas Clash 6th Grade Tournament in Alexandria.Of course I must brag that my grandson Michael Snow is a member of the team.
Advanced Disposal presented scholarships to seniors, including Carey Lane Monistere and Nigel Ian Collier from Pell City. Congratulations!
Please keep Gracie Poole in your thoughts and prayers. Gracie will be 11 in October. She needs a double lung transplant and is currently out in Texas with her family going through all the stuff one must go through waiting for a call telling her to get to the hospital quickly, lungs are available. So, from now until she receives her lungs, and then the time needed after the transplant, she and her family must live in Texas. They need your prayers.
Majestic Outdoors will hold its Annual Youth Field Day on May 26 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at their outdoor camp at 883 Dogwood Ridge, Pell City (off Hwy 174). It is free.
