It’s a great time to be a student at Jefferson State – St. Clair! Last Friday, students took a break from their usual studies and participated in the Spotlight Drama Club’s first annual lip sync battle. The event was well-attended and left audience members wanting more.
“Oh, we’re definitely going to do this again, hopefully on all Jefferson State campuses,” said Spotlight Club co-sponsor Lesley Warren. “It was encouraging to see so many people show up, and we all had a lot of fun while promoting interest in our new club.”

Contestants were judged by a panel of volunteers and were scored based on their enthusiasm, usage of props and costumes, line memorization and other criteria. First place went to Shep Merritt and Griffin Harris, with Wyatt Coss and Daniel Barber coming in at a close second. Stoney Merritt and Andrew Whittington gave a stellar performance as the Blues Brothers. Prizes were generously donated by Chick-fil-a in Pell City, Sozo Massage, CEPA, and Jerry Walker at Pell City Carpet Cleaning.
