Thanks to an anonymous donor, Steele Junior High School was awarded $50 for the teacher of the month. 

The idea behind the donation was to use the funds to purchase supplies for the classroom.  Mayor Roger Adams presented the Teacher of the Month award to Meghan Barnes who is the 7th and 8th grade math teacher.  

Her students offered the following comments about Mrs. Barnes:  “full of energy”, “great teacher”, “hard working”,  “she brightens every day”, “you rarely see her without a smile”, and “she always puts others before herself.”

Meghan is married to Rick Barnes and they have two sons.  She is an active member of Deerman’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Steele.
