Celebrations in Pell City hosted a fashion show fundraiser on March 25 to support Trevor Moore, local fire-medic battling colon cancer. Moore was diagnosed with colon cancer in January of this year. The costs of treatment for Moore are very expensive, which is why all proceeds from the fashion show are going directly to Moore and family. Over $4,000 was raised at Sunday’s event.

If you yourself don’t shop, you know someone who does. For those of us living in, or around the Pell City area, you’ll be pleased to know that many of the outfits modeled can be found in local shops. The shops from Pell City that donated clothing for the show include Hattie Lee’s, Born to Shop, Factory Connection, Cato’s, Burke’s Outlet, Glitz & Glamour, and Ami’s Formal Wear.

Along with the local clothing, there was also a New York designer present, Christian Ruart. Ruart has styled and designed for celebrities like Wendy Williams, Brandy Norwood, and the women from the Housewives of Atlanta. Ruart featured an African-themed line that wrapped up the show.

The fashion show is an annual event for Pell City’s Celebrations, directed by Joan Hawkins for the past 15 years. Last year the show benefited pancreatic cancer research. Hawkins is a part of Cameo Modeling Agency and works all over the world, including New York this summer. Cameo Modeling Agency starred models from ages 5 to 24, from Alabama and Florida, on Sunday.

In addition to the fashion show was a silent auction, vendors, and a dance performance by the Extreme Dance Company. All made for an exciting afternoon that supported a great cause. Hawkins commended all who helped the event, saying that “everyone in Pell City has helped.”

Though over $4,000 has been raised for Moore, there are other ways to donate to his fundraiser. There is a seperate account at Metro Bank under the name Moorehopeforacure and a PayPal account, Moorehopeforacure@gmail.com, that you can donate to in order to support Trevor Moore and family.

Moore has been receiving expensive treatments at M.D. Anderson in Texas that require great financial needs. Jessica Brannon, a close friend to Moore, says that if anything prayers are needed most. She speaks of how well the community has gathered around the Moore family, so let’s continue to support them. Prayers go out to Trevor and his family, hoping for a quick recovery. Appreciation is in order to Debra Dyer who helped direct the fundraiser for Moore and host the fashion show at Celebrations.
