Springville Elementary Kindergarten Round-Up will take place on Thursday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m. and registration will take place Thursday, April 19.

The Springville High School Key Club won several awards at the State Convention on March 11. Congratulations!

Courtney Stanley was awarded with the Stanley T. Johnson Outstanding Club President of the Year

Emma Owen was awarded a $500 college scholarship and placed 2nd in the talent competition

Congratulations to the Springville Lady Tigers Softball team for kicking off their season with two consecutive wins.

The Springville Public Library read Elmer the Elephant at Preschool Storytime on Wednesday, March 14.  Preschool Storytime is each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Annex.

The historic Laster’s Sundries on Main Street in Springville has announced that it will open in just a few weeks.

The Springville Senior Center started its Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

Local Churches:

  • The Springville Presbyterian Church has been undergoing a restoration. The church was able to recover the upholstery this past week. The church is one of the oldest churches in the area. Donations to fund the restoration can be made to the Springville Presbyterian Church Foundation at P.O. Box 429, Springville, AL 35146.
  • Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info

  • The Church at Bradford Road is offering a Divorce Support Group for Children every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contact 205-467-7376.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6pm – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
