National Women’s History Month is March 2018, and the women of the Broken Arrow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recognized Susan Mann, Assistant Director of Adult Services at the Pell City Library, as their Outstanding Woman of St. Clair County.
Martha Boyer, Broken Arrow DAR Chapter Regent, read in the proclamation, “According to her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ann Dendy, her family has been triply blessed. And we know that St. Clair County is blessed to have her with us.”
“Susan always has a warm smile and greets each person as if they were the most important person in the world,” Boyer continued. “She is quick to help and offers her assistance with warmth and sincerity. Susan is an exemplary Christian leader in the community.”
Mann has been a member of First Baptist Church and has worked at Pell City Library since Sept. 2001. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Business. She and her husband, Jim, who was in on the surprise presentation, are the parents of two sons: Chris, who passed away in 2009, and James who is currently serving in the Coast Guard.
The date of the presentation on Feb. 20 was also Susan Mann and husband Jim’s 36th wedding anniversary, making the day extra special for Susan.
“Thank you so much!” a surprised Mann exclaimed. “I’m an truly humbled and honored. This means the world to me.”
