Pell City Bulletin

Hello everyone.  How about this winter weather? We don’t know what to expect next. However, everyday is a new day and the Bible says in Proverbs 14:29, “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Think about it: In our world, we want everything, and we want it now. We want everything microwaved, instead of waiting on something to really be slow-cooked in the Crock-Pot. It may be hard in the moment to wait, but patience always pays off.

Happy birthday to my great-grandson Sawyer Vaughan (son of Eli and Summer Harmon Vaughan) who was 3 on February 27; to Greg Crump who will celebrate his birthday on March 8; to Debra Dyer, Jim Newman, Drew Alexander, Kent Brascho, Kylie Cline, Pat Knepper, Adam Kimberly, Jack Lincoln, Benjamin Hayes, Shirley Mercer, Ethan Isbell, Brooke McGrady, Noah Holladay, Braden Holladay, Cheryl Mullins, Marcia Tucker, Thomas Seay, Jan Trotter, Tiffany Howe, Jeff Marsh, Kaylee Stallings, Hannah Thweatt, Brittany Gillison, Bill Jones, Emily Grace McIntosh, Saylor Richard, Chris Stallings, Shena Ashworth, Neil Bell, Todd Holdridge, Gina Funderburg, Susan Gentry, Juliana Ramsey, and Adam Lee.

Tommy and Barbara Vaughan had four of their grandchildren for a short, but full weekend. McKiley and Harper Dody, Dax and Sawyer Vaughan visited for a weekend filled with games and horse-back riding.

And it’s brag time. This from the Pell City Parks & Recreation Athletics: “(We) would like to congratulate all of our All-Star Basketball Teams on a great District Tournament. You guys showed great sportsmanship and played with passion. We would also like to give a big congratulations to our 12U Boys team for being the first team in almost 20 years to WIN the District 4 Championship! They played 3 games on Saturday and averaged 51 points as a team. They will be playing in the ARPA State Basketball Tournament the weekend of March 9 & 10.” Members of this team include my grandson, Michael Snow, Caleb Groce, Trey Peterson, Caden Donahoo, Rick Goad, T.J. Cooper, Joseph Stewart, Garrison Hildebrant, Jaden Young, Braden Bell, and William Perry. Coaches include Desmond Groce, Mark Hildebrant and Trent Jones.

Each month, East Westside Baptist Church hosts a ministry for adults who have experienced a loss. If you are a widow or widower, you are invited to the next Hands that Embrace event on March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at their Eden Campus. This is not a grief share, but an uplifting event to fellowship and encourage each other.  There is no charge for this event. For more information, please call 205-338-7711.

Please pray for the Cropwell Baptist Church’s Guatemala Team as they travel to Guatemala on Saturday, March 3to minister. They will return on Saturday, March 10.

Part-time work versus full-time work: according to new studies, moms who work part-time often feel more stressed than their full-time counterparts. Why? Because part-timers end up pulling double duty, doing housework as well.

Remember:  Happiness is trying to give something away—a smile. It can’t be done. It always comes back, even a confirmed grouch will return it.  Try it.

God bless you.  I pray that this year will bring all of you blessings, good health and peace and joy.  Please pray daily for our country, it’s leaders and for Israel.
