Instead of flowers and heart-shaped chocolates, WKW in Pell City wanted to give something that would last a bit longer: non-perishable food items.
The Pell City Christian Love Pantry was running a bit low on inventory, but with the help of employees at WKW, now have an additional 450 items for clients in need. In addition to the food donation, WKW also gave $261 to help with future food purchases.
“We always appreciate our community partners joining in our fight against hunger in the area,” Love Pantry Director Alan Foster said. “Any help they give is greatly appreciated.”
Associates at the WKW Pell City plant collected boxes of canned vegetables, juice, flour, sugar, noodles, ready-to-eat microwavable dinners, dried beans, rice, tuna, soups, crackers, oatmeal, canned fruit, and many other non-perishable food items during Feb. 12. They also collected toilet tissue, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, dish soap, and detergent.
The Christian Love Pantry feeds over 3000 families a year in the St. Clair County region. For more information on how to donate or volunteer, visit www.facebook.com/The-Christian-Love-Pantry-163157184030923/ or call 205-338-2358.
