When Anita Pichon Grooms retired from the corporate world, she knew she had more to accomplish.

“I always had a passion for cooking,” Grooms said. She used family recipes from New Orleans to create her signature Pichon Pralines, homemade candies from scratch.

She wants to bring that taste of New Orleans to Pell City.

When she met Renee Lilly, owner of Lilly Designs, Inc. in Pell City, they shared that vision. For the past year they have been researching, taking classes, and redesigning Lilly’s downtown Pell City storefront to create The French Market, an inviting space for customers to enjoy homemade sweets, snacks, and French-pressed coffee and tea.

On Friday, Feb. 9, Lilly Designs and Pichon Pralines French Market had an official opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Pell City Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m really excited about this collaboration with Pichon Pralines,” Lilly said. “We are trying to make downtown Pell City sweeter than it already is.”

Current hours are Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. For more information, contact Renee Lilly at 205-533-5594.
