Victory Christian School student Destiny Nowlin received an athletic scholarship for softball to Judson College in a signing ceremony Monday.

“She is a tremendous athlete and great outfielder,” Judson College softball coach Tom Hannah said. “When we were having tryouts, [Nowlin] was trying to help everyone else out.”

This is the first year Hannah has been the head softball coach at Judson College. Previously, he coached high school softball in Birmingham area schools for 26 years. Judson was ranked fifth in the nation in the USCAA for the 2017 season, and with new recruits like Nowlin, Hannah hopes that Judson will climb to number one.

“We knew immediately that she’d be a great part of the team,” Hannah said. “We’re very excited and look forward to her joining the team.”

Destiny Nowlin will graduate from Victory Christian School and begin at Judson College in Fall 2018, where she will begin playing for the fall softball season.

“We are so very proud of her,” lead administrator for Victory Christian School Laurie Davenport said. Nowlin was supported by her classmates and family, who attended the signing.

Another Victory student, Harrison Cheatwood, received the Coach Dan Washburn Scholarship for athletic and academic achievement, which he may use at the school of his choice.
