The Leeds Tree Commission took on a large task for their annual project. They removed 10 of the Yoshino Cherry trees that bordered the Leeds Memorial Park’s walking track. The cherry trees were planted in the 1990s and they had started to die and split. Cherry trees have a life expectancy of 15 – 20 years.
The Leeds Tree Commission replaced the trees with Princeton American Elm trees. This elm is a fast growing upright deciduous shade tree that can reach a height of 30 – 40 feet.
