Springville had a snow day on Friday, December 8. Schools were closed and children all around Springville were happy.
The Springville Christmas Parade was on December 9 at 6 p.m. on Main Street.
Sunday, December 3, flutists from the Springville High School Marching Band played Christmas carols for the Advent Open House at the Springville Presbyterian Church.
Preschool Storytime at the Springville Library created ornaments this past week. Preschool Storytime meets on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Annex.
The American Girl Club at the Springville Library sewed doll stockings for their meeting on December 2.
The Shops on Main Street in Springville are hosting Christmas Open House every Thursday night through the Holidays from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. Participating venues include Main Street Pizza, Del Sol, Nichols Nook, The Farmers Market and many more.
The Springville Presbyterian Church is undergoing a restoration. It received a donation from Brasfield & Gorrie to help restore the steeple and bell tower. The church is one of the oldest churches in the area. Donations to fund the restoration can be made to the Springville Presbyterian Church Foundation at P.O. Box 429, Springville, AL 35146.

○ Santa will visit Preschool Storytime will host Santa and Mrs. Claus on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m.
○ There will be one more class for exploring Ancestry.com Library Edition. This will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is requested as space is limited.
○ There will be a Fine Forgiveness Week December 12-20. Patrons are asked to bring one non-perishable food donation in exchange for each dollar in fines, up to 15 cans/$15. Overdue items may be returned for a maximum fine of $3 per item, regardless of due date. Donations will be distributed to local food pantries.
The Springville Preservation Society will be selling Christmas ornaments of Springville’s olden days. 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Society.
Sunday, January 14, there will be a “School of Rock” Concert at the Springville Middle School Auditorium from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. benefiting the Historical Society’s restoration project of the Old Rock School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. From the St Clair County EMA: Road Closure at Muckleroy Creek Bridge. AL State Hwy 11 from Whitney Junction/AL Hwy 231 to State Route 23, Springville to close to thru traffic on Monday, December 12 for bridge work. Alternate Route: I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Rd 23 and also Pinedale Rd to 23. Timeline: More than one year. This notice is provided from the Alabama Department of Transportation.
The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills. Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info
The Springville Senior Center started its Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome. Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.
