What’s Up in Odenville

I love the holiday season. Everything looks so pretty lit up, Christmas carols play, and scented candles burn. There is a certain magic in the air.

Then reality hits and I’m stressing over what to get for who and how much it’s going cost. Searching high and low for that one thing my kid must have or the world will cease to exist, only to have them change their mind after I’ve almost gone to jail to get the last one. Not to mention all the food I eat because I’m stressed out, then stress out about how much food I’m eating. It’s a vicious circle, one that I repeat every year.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s get to the news:

Oh, this little town of ours is absolutely amazing. Last Friday the St. Clair County Saints headed to the 5A State Semi-Finals against Briarwood. The stands were overflowing with our fans and my goodness at the noise they made! Our community made sure those boys knew we were behind them every second of the game, and it was a game to remember for sure. Unfortunately, the Saints weren’t able to bring home a win as Briarwood won 37-33.  While we are disappointed for our boys, we are not disappointed in them. They had a phenomenal season and our community couldn’t be more proud. Go Saints!

The Odenville Candyland Christmas Parade has been rescheduled for tonight December 7 at 7 p.m. Line up for the parade will be in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot at 5:30 p.m. This is a different route than previous years. For more information or to be a part of the parade call City Hall at 205-629-6366.

The Odenville Cops for Tots deadline for donations for this Christmas is December 18. You can also adopt a family from an Angel Tree located at Piggly Wiggly. If you know of a family in need, stop by City Hall and fill out a form ASAP.
