Nominations are currently being accepted at the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce to recognize one outstanding Leeds High School student whether they are from Leeds High School, private school or homeschooled. The only stipulation is that they must be a resident of Leeds. Please submit a one page typed letter explaining why this student should be the High School Volunteer of the Year. The Chamber will also recognize a Leeds First Responder of the Year, whether from the Police or Fire Department. Please submit a one page typed letter on why this First Responder should be recognized. Instead of the Citizen of the Year, the Chamber will recognize a Volunteer of the Year from Leeds. Please submit a one page typed letter on why this person should be recognized. Submit your nominations to Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, P. O. Box 900, Leeds, AL 35094 or drop off your nomination to the chamber office during normal business hours.
The Leeds Arts Council honored Moody High School Artists with an opening reception this past Sunday at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center. These high school artists work in a variety of mediums and styles. Their works reflect their interests in nature, pop culture, music, humor and everyday life. The Moody Area Chamber of Commerce will host their monthly chamber luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today, Nov. 9 at Moody City Hall. Guest speaker will be Richard Mobley with The Seven Four Group who will speak on “Everything Rises and Falls on Leadership.” Lunch is $10 with RSVP ($15 without RSVP).
