Hundreds of people from the surrounding area converged on Town & Country Ford in Pell City for the grand opening of their new building on Oct. 13. An array of special guests from the city and surrounding municipalities were on hand for the ribbon cutting, which was performed by racing legend and NASCAR team owner Jack Roush and the great-grandson of Henry Ford, Edsel Ford III.

“This project has spanned several administrations,” said Pell City Mayor Bill Pruitt, pointing out former mayor Bill Hereford and others. “This has been an effort by a lot of people and a lot of partnerships between all of our agencies. We are blessed to live in a county where we have an incredible County Commission to work with.”

“It is a great day for the City of Pell City and the people of St. Clair County,” St. Clair County Commission Chairman Paul Manning said. “You’ve done an outstanding job working toward this day. We appreciate each of you…it’s a great facility. We’re really glad to be here.”

Town & Country Ford General Manager Doug Bailey, who has represented the company for the past 14 years, also spoke at the grand opening ceremony.

“I would like to thank the city and county for all the things they’ve done for us over the years,” Bailey said. “I think this is really for our customers and our employees. The original rendering is in my office, dated Oct. 2010. We’ve been looking forward to this for a long, long time.”

The new facility is over 27,000 square feet and is touted as one of the most technologically advanced dealerships in Alabama. Site work began on the property last year and construction started around six months ago by Goodgame Company, Inc.

At the grand opening ceremony, attendees were offered tours of the facility as well as drawings for several giveaways, including a Roush tire package and a new 2017 Ford F-150 Truck.

“I know those guys (employees) have been looking out those windows for the past three years. I know they’re going to be appreciative,” co-owner of Town & Country Ford Bill Sain said. “How did this come about? You have to believe in your brand. I started with ford in 1968. This is a great opportunity Ford gave us, and it is a great market that is really going to grow.”

Sain’s business partner for 26 years, Steve Watts, introduced the special guests NASCAR RoushYates Racing team co-owner Jack Roush and Edsel Ford III, the great-grandson of Henry Ford.

Roush and Ford cut the blue ribbon with the Pell City Chamber of Commerce Board President Larry Daugherty on hand.

“Congrats to Steve (Watts) and everyone. You’ve got a great location here,” Roush said. “Thank you for representing me and the brand so well.”
