What’s Up in Odenville

The Odenville Area Business Association held a lunch meeting this week to transition from a business association to a Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce officially launched.  

Trese Mashburn, Odenville Area Business Association Director, opened the meeting and introduced the Executive Committee who had worked to make this new organization a reality.  This committee included Bruce Mardis – President (Seasons of Adventure Travel), Trese Mashburn – First Vice-President (94.1 The River), Joanie Mardis – Second Vice-President (Seasons of Adventure Travel), Paul Perry – Secretary (Paul Perry Alfa Insurance), Anthony Baumann – Treasurer (Revocation Radio) and Dona Bonnett – Board Member (ADR Business & Marketing Strategies).  

This group met weekly for the last two months to work through the articles of incorporation, by-laws, non-profit paperwork, organizational structure, mission statement and tagline which was all presented at the lunch meeting.  Bruce Mardis, the new President, led the remainder of the meeting. 

Mashburn was recognized for all of her hard work over the past several years in leading the business association and was presented with an award. The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce looks forward to working with the City, local businesses and the community. Meetings will be held the first Monday of each month at 12 p.m. (11:30 a.m. to network) at Odenville Presbyterian Church. For more information go to odenvillechamber.com

School News

The Saints celebrated Homecoming last Friday with Taylor England crowned 2017 Homecoming Queen. The Saints fought hard but could not come up with a win. In the end the Saints fell to Saks 30-20. This week the Saints are on the road to Briarwood for a region game. Go Saints! 

The SCCHS XC Track Team will compete in Guntersville this Saturday. Meet begins at 9 am. 

Local Events

Calvary Baptist Church in Odenville will host a Fall Frenzy Saturday October 28 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. 

The City of Margaret is hosting a Fall Festival Sunday, October 29 next to Margaret Pharmacy & Gifts! Invite your friends and neighbors to join in the fun for this family friendly free event!

Odenville City Hall will host a community Trunk or Treat, Tuesday, October 31 from 5-7 p.m. Anyone can set up to give away treats!
