Trese Mashburn.

I love football. I will watch games I have no vested interest in because I just love it that much: youth league, high school, college – and until this year – professional ball. I have decided that all the money we throw at these athletes has numbed their sense of duty, respect and honor for our flag and our nation. If and until their mindset changes, I personally will not support the NFL or any other sport that willfully disrespects the flag that so many men and women have sacrificed their lives for.

Local Events

The St. Clair County High School (SCCHS) Saints celebrated their fourth win of the season this past Friday with a final score of 34-14 against Woodlawn at home. Saints debuted a new kicker Jaden Hayes, who went 4/5 in PATs, defensive lineman Jalen Cunningham showed up and showed out, and receiver JaVarrius Johnson was nominated player of the game! Way to go Saints!

SCCHS Homecoming festivities are this week. The parade will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the usual route. A larger than usual crowd is expected at the game Friday night due to both teams being undefeated, both teams being ranked, and Fox 6 is covering the game. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned prior to kickoff, so get there early. Everyone is asked to “White-out the Wildcats” by wearing white. Also, Principal Mike Howard would love to see everyone bring cowbells to show your spirit. Howard has also arranged for extra seating to be placed near the embankment. From this point forward children will no longer be allowed to horseplay at the games. It is becoming a safety concern for everyone. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to #RaiseTheBar.

Odenville Youth Athletic Association (OYAA) will also have their Homecoming festivities this Saturday. Games will be Saturday morning through the afternoon, and bonfire Saturday night from 6-9 p.m. There will be inflatables, a DJ and concessions.

The SCCHS XC Track team will head to Oak Mountain for the OM Invitational at Heardman Park this Saturday. Meet begins at 8:30 a.m. GO SAINTS!
