The Moody Blue Devils could not get it going on offense and dropped their third game in a row and second at home with a 16 – 0 loss to Pleasant Grove last Friday night.  Moody falls to 1 – 3(0 – 3) on the season and will host John Carroll for Homecoming tomorrow night.

Moody came into their game with the Pleasant Grove Spartans with a bit of a chip on their shoulders after a tough loss at Shelby County last week.  The Blue Devils defense came out ready to play early.  Ethan Mills gets a pick for the Blue Devils on Pleasant Grove’s first possession.  The score was 0 – 0 after the first quarter.

The Spartans pin the Moody offense inside the five-yard line midway through the second quarter.  The Pleasant Grove defense sacs Moody quarterback Carson Buckner in the end zone for the games first score.  Pleasant Grove led 2 – 0 with 6:32 left in the half.  Pleasant Grove then got the football at their own 37-yard line after the free kick.  The Spartans grind out a 7-play drive that was capped off with a 1-yard touchdown run to put them up 9 – 0 at half time.

The score remained the same in the third quarter, with Rashad Clark providing the only highlight in the quarter with his first interception of the season.  The score remained 9 – 0 in favor of the Spartans.

The Moody defense made several big stops throughout the game, but Pleasant Grove made a defensive play late to give them the football at the Moody 41-yard line.  A long run set the Spartans up at the Moody 5-yard line.  Pleasant Grove scored on the very next play to go up 16 – 0 and that would be the final score.

Ethan Mills led the Moody defense with 15 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.  Ethan Jeff had 12 tackles; Mason Shockley had 10 tackles, as did Colin McNeill.  McNeill had a fumble recovery to go with his 10 tackles.  Aiden Calvert added another 10 tackles to the team total.  Kaderius Gamble had 9 tackles and Jordan Mason added 8 tackles.  Rashad Clark had 4 tackles and an interception.

It is Homecoming for the Blue Devils this week.  They will step out of region play and host John Carroll tomorrow night.  The Blue Devils will head on the road for the next two weeks starting at Woodlawn next week and at Wenonah the following week.  Kickoff for tomorrow night’s Homecoming game is at 7 p.m. at Bill Morris Stadium.
