The newest tenant to fill the vacant Kmart space in the Pell City Marketplace has been announced this week as Bargain Hunt.
Bargain Hunt is a growing retail chain of 79 stores headquartered in La Vergne, Tennessee. They will join the new and existing tenants in the center including Winn Dixie, Tractor Supply and Martin’s Family Clothing.
“We are excited to announce the addition of Bargain Hunt to the tenant mix at Pell City Marketplace,” said Micah Lacher of Anchor Investments. “With the addition of Bargain Hunt, we have now fully leased the former Kmart store that just closed this summer. ”
Lacher added, “We are very proud of how quickly we were able to breathe life back into this center and could not have done it with the help of The City of Pell City, St. Clair County and the St. Clair County Economic Development Council (EDC). We have all worked tireless to accomplish our common goal of making sure this continues to be a thriving center for years to come.”
Bargain Hunt offers customers brandname merchandise 30-50 percent below normal retail pricing, including clothing, electronics, home furnishing, sporting goods, toys, and outdoor gear. The company is expected to open 30 new stores throughout the Southeast in 2017.
“We are proud to partner with the developer to aid in their swift backfill of the former Kmart property,” said Brian Muenger, city manager of Pell City.
“The City of Pell City is glad to be a part of the announcement of Bargain Hunt as a tenant in the Anchor Investments center,” said Pell City Mayor Bill Pruitt. “Everyone has worked hard to see this space filled with viable shopping options for residents of Pell City and we welcome Bargain Hunt to the mix of retail tenants in our community.”
“The St. Clair County commission is always pleased to see new business and industry come to St. Clair County,” said Chairman Paul Manning, St. Clair County Commission. “We are glad to see this shopping center filled so quickly and look forward to new retail options and the revenues that will help St. Clair County and the City of Pell City serve their citizens.”
Bargain Hunt is expected to open early next year.
