St. Clair Extension to host luncheon

Currently, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the two most prevalent types of cancer here in St. Clair County, just under breast cancer, are prostate and lung cancer.

The CDC sites prostate cancer as being the most common non-skin cancer among American men followed by lung cancer which is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer among both men and women in the United States.

To increase awareness of these types of cancer, the St. Clair County Extension Office will host a Blue & White Prostate & Lung Cancer Awareness Luncheon on Tuesday, October 10, from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. at the Pell City Civic Center. The luncheon is FREE and everyone is welcome but seating is limited. Since lunch will be provided, you must call the Extension office at 205-338-9416 to reserve your seat.

The St. Clair County Extension Office is currently looking for community and contributing sponsors to assist with lunch costs, materials, and advertising. For either a $25 or $50 donation, sponsors can help educate and raise awareness of prostate and lung cancer which affects so many of our citizens and potentially help to save someone’s life.

You may call the St. Clair County Extension Office at 205-338-9416 to make reservations or pledge your donation no later than Tuesday, September 5. For more information, please contact Lee Ann Clark, County Extension Coordinator.
