The Springville Farmers Market on Main Street (across from PNC Bank) is growing and creating a buzz with local honey, fresh vegetables, local artisan crafts, fun, and food offerings. The Springville Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 3-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. until November 11 with booths from local produce, art, and craft vendors.
The Springville Library wrapped up the summer season of Preschool Storytime with music and dancing. Mark Seymour of “Be-at Your Best” (beatyourbest.com) was the guest at Storytime on July 26. Story Time will take a short break, resuming Wednesday, August 23 and continuing every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
The Springville Youth Soccer Association will hold online soccer registration until August 5 at www.quickscores.com/sya. There will be an in-person registration on August 5 at The First Baptist Church of Springville Soccer Fields located on Terry Street, across from Dollar General. Fall registration for Springville Youth Baseball, Softball and Soccer is available online at www.quickscores.com.
The City of Springville and area Churches have scheduled a back to school “Movies in the Park” and ribbon cutting ceremony for completion of our “Streetscape Project”. They will be showing The Secret Life of Pets in Big Springs Park, August 4 at 6:30 p.m.. Mayor Isley, City Council Members and area Churches would like to invite everyone to be on hand for the ribbon cutting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Following, they will have inflatables, free hot dogs, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream. The Splash Pad will be open until 8:00 p.m. So come early for food and fun and to get a good seat before the movie begins at dark.
The City of Springville will be hosting a Blood Drive on August 24 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Springville City Hall Council Chambers, located at 160 Walker Dr, Springville, 35146. The Big Springs Park Splash Pad will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Cost is $1 per person, children 3 years and under are free.
Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. AL State Hwy 11 from Whitney Junction/AL Hwy 231 to State Route 23, Springville to close to through traffic on Monday, December 12 for bridge work. Alternate Route: I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Rd 23 and also Pinedale Rd to 23. Timeline: more than one year. This notice is provided from the Alabama Department of Transportation.
The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
