The Springville Public Library received a visit from Ariel from The Little Mermaid for Storytime as part of the Enchanted Princesses series on Wednesday, June 2. Storytime at the library is every Wednesday at 10:30a.m. and includes a story, craft and snacks.
The City of Springville will host a second free, family, outdoor movie night at Big Springs Park on June 24 with a showing of Trolls. There will be free popcorn, drinks, games and cotton candy. Bring a blanket and enjoy the movie.
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, the Springville Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 8, will feature a pet portrait artist, Chris Davis, for Drawdog. The event will feature pets, activities and pet adoption. They will close the afternoon in worship, celebrate and bless your pets and family.
Christ Community Church will host Art Adventure Camp, July 10-13. For ages five to 12. Register online at www.spingville.info.
North Valley Church will host their Vacation Bible School (VBS), Gadgets and Gizmos, from July 9-13 at 6:30p.m. each night. VBS at Flow Church in Ashville, entitled Shipwrecked, will be July 12-14 at 5:30-8p.m. Register online at www.kidblitz.org.
Springville’s Payless Drug Store will host a campaign through June in honor of Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Residents are encouraged to register with the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org. Donations may also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association on their website.
The Springville High School basketball team is hosting the Tiger Basketball Camp, July 24-27 from 9:00a.m. until noon for first through sixth grade. Cost is $50. Contact (205) 467-7833.

The Big Springs Park Splash Pad will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10a.m. until 7p.m. and on Sundays from 1-5p.m. Cost is $1 per person, three years and under is free.
The Springville Farmers Market, located across from PNC Bank on Main Street, will be open until November 11, Fridays from 3-6p.m. and Saturdays from 8a.m. to 12p.m. The market will feature booths from local produce vendors, as well as arts and crafts vendors.
The Springville Library will host an American Girl club for ages six to 12, every first Saturday of the month at 10:30a.m. Contact the library for details at (205) 467-2339.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6-8:30p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years; adults may also join as senior members. Besides piloting, cadets learn skills in leadership, aerospace, character development and team work. The St. Clair County EMA has announced a road closure at Muckleroy Creek Bridge on AL State Hwy. 11, from Whitney Junction on AL Hwy. 231 to State Route 23. Springville will close to thru traffic on Monday, December 12 for bridge work. An alternate route is located on I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Road 23, or Pinedale Road to State Road 23. The timeline is more than one year.
