The Springville Library received a visit from Jake the Pirate for Storytime, Wednesday, June 14. On June 28, Storytime will be visited by Superheros. Storytime at the Springville Library is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and includes a story, craft and snacks.
The Springville Library’s Summer Reading Program featured a visit from the Moundville Archaeological Park on June 15 at the Springville Farmers Market adjacent to the Springville Library. The educators from Moundville gave a presentation about Alabama’s prehistory, the history of Alabama Native Americans and presented artifacts.
The Springville 6U All-Stars baseball team won the BPA Memorial Invitation on May 27 and won the BPA State Championship on June 10. They will now begin their run for a bid at the Dizzy Dean Baseball World Series with the District Tournament in Leeds June 16th.
The City of Springville will host a second free, family, outdoor movie night at Big Springs Park, June 24 with a showing of “Trolls.” There will be free popcorn, drinks, games and cotton candy. Bring a blanket and enjoy the movie.
VBS Round-Up 2017
“Gadgets and Gizmos” VBS at North Valley Church will be July 9 – 13, each night at 6:30 p.m.
Flow Church in Ashville will host “Shipwrecked,” VBS, July 12 -14 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night. Register at kidblitz.org

Payless Drug Store in Springville is hosting a “Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness” campaign for the month of June. They encourage residents to register with The Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at the store or online.

The Big Springs Park Splash Pad will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. Cost is $1 per person, 3 years and under is free.
The Springville Farmers Market on Main Street (across from PNC Bank) will be open until November 11 every Friday from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. with booths from local produce vendors and craft and art vendors.
The Springville Library will begin “An American Girl Club” for ages 6-12, every first Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Contact the Springville Library for details at 205-467-2339.
The Lego Club will meet every Friday and Saturday from 11a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Springville Library in the Children’s Annex. Space is limited. Please call or visit your library to register at 467-2339.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6pm – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
