What’s Up in Odenville

- Trese Mashburn.
Finals have been taken, seniors have graduated, tears have been shed, parties have been thrown and now it’s time for these young men and women to move on to the next chapter in their life.
A friend posted on social media that her husband was so ready for that chapter to take place, the day after graduation he woke his daughter up at 6 a.m. and shouted “Wake up! Time to get a job!”
Some of these teens have no idea what they are in for and some are already “in it.” Mine has no idea now, had no idea then and will probably not have any idea any time soon either.
Apparently the magic number is “18.” If I heard “when I’m 18” once, I heard it a thousand times. Then it was “I”m 18, I can do what I want.”
My answer?
“Guess what—no, you can’t. You can’t open a checking account by yourself, buy or rent a car, rent an apartment, heck you can’t even buy a pet FISH in the state of Alabama until you are 19 so good luck with that for another year.”
Just like that, Mom had the last word.
Let’s get to the news.
