Congratulations to Moody High School seniors, Kaleigh Parker and Kelsi Mills. Kaleigh received an Academic Leadership Scholarship from the University of Montevallo, a Distinguished Young Women (DYW) Fitness Scholarship and the first ever Jay Brock Band Scholarship. Kelsi received $1,750 in scholarships and plans to attend Troy University.
Also, congratulations to McKenna Padgett for receiving Marching Band Rookie of the Year at the 2017 Moody High School Band banquet. Way to go, McKenna!

Auditions for the summer musical, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, will be held on Saturday, May 13 beginning at noon and on Monday, May 15 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center. Cliff Keen, Jr., is the director and the show will be held the last three weekends in July. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to audition. Please call (205) 640-4491 for more information.
National Police Week begins this Sunday, May 14 and ends on Saturday, May 20. This is a great time to honor our police officers for the great job they do to keep our communities safe.
Please remember that Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14 and a special time to honor Mothers. We would like to wish each of you Moms a very Happy Mother’s Day!
Leeds City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 15 at the Leeds Civic Center meeting room.
Moody Lions Club is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 15 at White’s Chapel.
Moody Kiwanis will meet at noon on Tuesday, May 16 at Moody City Hall.
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) Corporate Ambassadors will host their lunch meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at Leeds First Methodist Church Family Life Center. Lunch is $10 and RSVP to Sandra McGuire at (205) 699-5001.
Breakfast for the Brave will be served at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 at the Leeds River Campus. If you are policeman, fireman, EMT or other first responder in the greater Leeds area, please come by for a FREE breakfast and fellowship. For more information, please visit www.EdenWestside.org.

Summer is right around the corner. The Leeds Splash Pad will open Saturday, May 27. The part is open to all residents of Leeds and their guests, Tuesday through Saturday each week from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Closed Mondays. Pavilions are available for rent and may be reserved by calling (205) 699-0190.
The Moody Splash Pad will open Tuesday, May 30. Their hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Admission will be $2 per person. Ages two and under are free. No outside food or drink is permitted in the pad. For more information, please call (205) 640-0321.
DYW of St. Clair County Scholarship Program will be Saturday, June 3 at 4:00 p.m. at the Springville Middle School auditorium. Please plan to join them as eight area high school senior women compete for college scholarships. Admission is $10.
