Extension office offers upcoming educational opportunities

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s (ACES) St. Clair County office is excited to offer the following educational workshops and events:
1) Lunch and Learn Gardening Program. Through a partnership with the St. Clair County Master Gardeners Association and Regional Extension Agent, Bethany O’Rear we are offering this program again this year. Bring a lunch and a friend from 12 p.m.—1 p.m. Admission is FREE and drinks will be provided. To adequately prepare, please call in advance to register for the following workshops:

Aug. 22: Nuisance Wildlife (St. Clair County Farmers Federation Building Auditorium, Ashville)
Oct. 24: Fall Gardening Do’s & Don’ts (Purser-Ray Hall, Odenville)
2) Cottage Food Law Food Safety Course. Anyone selling nonhazardous foods made in the home directly to consumers is now required by the new Cottage Food Law to attend a food safety course. Join Regional Extension Agent, Angela Treadaway for this course which will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 3 p.m.—5 p.m. at the St. Clair County Extension Office Auditorium. You must pre-register to attend online at www.aces.edu/foodsafety. Cost is $25 per person.
3) Fermentation 101 Workshop. Learn how to ferment food and ways you can incorporate them into your diet. We will prepare and can Pickled Three Bean Salad. Class will held on Tuesday, May 2 from 1-4 p.m. at the Pell City Civic Center. Cost is $10 per person. Please call our office to pre-register no later than April 25.
4) St. Clair County Master Gardener Association Annual Plant Sale. Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at the Pell City Civic Center.
