- The entire cast gathers on the stage for one final bow and wave last Thursday night at CEPA’s Winter Cabaret.
Performers rocked the house on Thursday and Friday night at Pell City’s Center for Performing Arts (CEPA) for their third annual Winter Cabaret.
Presented by the Pell City High School Fine Arts department, students entertained the crowd with various types of visual and audio arts. The show featured singing, dancing, and a dramatic monologue. The lobby boasted high-school art students’ pieces for attendees to admire and, in case of some of the works, purchase —$1,472.25 was raised just on Thursday night.

An almost full house attended Friday night and the auditorium exploded with applause after each performance.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to see and support the local talent that the high school has to offer,” Fine Arts Department Head Kelly Whittington said. “The students are enthused to work cooperatively within the department to create an entertaining evening for all.”
Songs ranged from classic rock such as a mash up of “Juke Box Hero” and “I Love Rock and Roll” to “Almost There” from Disney’s “Princess and the Frog.”
Performances were interluded by a quad of girls crossing the stage and bantering about the show, adding an entertaining pause between pieces.
The show also offers students a chance to get on stage and perform pieces they may not otherwise get to do.
“I’m so happy to have been to a part of Cabaret for the past three years. We have some wonderfully talented kids at Pell City High School,” said student and performer, Jameson Willis.

“I’m sad that this was my last, but I hope everyone enjoyed the show.”
And if cheers and applause are any indication—the crowd certainly did enjoy it.
If you missed the Cabaret, make sure to catch the next big event coming up in CEPA’s spring season—Dueling Pianos by Fun Pianos! on March 10, followed by Comedy Night on March 16. Later on in the season, check out the play Bus Stop by William Inge, put on in conjunction with Jefferson State Community College; as well as the high school’s production for the spring, Cinderella, from April 27-30.
