PELL CITY – Jennifer Leetress Lonergan Lockridge, 66, passed away on February 1, 2017 surrounded by her devoted son Andrew, family and friends. All present believing the scripture II Corinthians 5:6-8 “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”

Leetress graduated from Pell City High School in 1968 and then attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa where she studied Childhood Development. As a child she gave her life to the Lord and was a member of Arbor Baptist Church. She later belonged to Cropwell Baptist Church where she was involved with the Evangelism Explosion Ministry. She was a good mother and sister, a fun loving person who was a joy to be around. She loved taking trips to the mountains and to the ocean. Dogs and cats could always find a best friend in her. Each night on her bed she would read from the Bible with her son and caregiver, Andrew, her favorite scripture being the 23rd Psalm.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John L. Lonergan, Sr. and Jennie Skelton Lonergan and her brother, Joel L. Lonergan.

Survivors include her son, Andrew L. Lockridge; brother, John L. (Sandra) Lonergan, Jr.; sister, Jessica L. (William) Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Lee”. She has left her family and friends with numerous fond memories.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to give a special thank you to the caring team at Lakeside Hospice.
